Everyone in Middleton deserves a home that is safe, healthy and secure.

We've set up the Middleton Tenants Union to work alongside local people living in unsafe, unhealthy or insecure private and social tenancies, so they can get repairs, justice and compensation. We work closely with the Greater Manchester Tenants Union to challenge a housing system that puts profit before people.

Why it matters

Housing in Middleton is getting harder. Rents and prices are rising faster than many people can afford. Far fewer homes are available for social rent, largely because of right-to-buy, while more homes are owned by private landlords. Private tenants have no security and can be evicted at any time without a reason. And for many homeowners, keeping up with the mortgage is a growing struggle.

What we're building

As well as supporting people now, we're imagining something better together. We're members of the Greater Manchester Community Led Homes network and are exploring community-owned housing as a real alternative.
